Preparing website content for the project

Preparing your content for your new or redesigned site can be one of the frustrating parts of a web design and development project. To finalize the job content should ready to go before we start design to prevent any trouble.

How to Prepare Website Content?

We start with a sitemap in discovery phase to let you outline how a site's content will be layered, organized and navigated. Then, you are will be requested to send all documents in proper formats before we get started.

Here is the specifications to be followed:

  • All texts should be moved into a Word or an Excel file

  • All images is equal or greater than 1920x1080 or 1080x1920 (unlike otherwise is specified). Image files in .PNG format take much storage and cause performance issues. In case you have access to, try to send .JPG or .WEBP files for images. For icons, the correct file format is .SVG.

  • Your brand kit as a separate folder (if you send only logos, they should be in .SVG format)

Preparing content for ecommerce websites might be a bit different than what you are doing for regular websites.

Why we need specific file sizes and formats?

In order to optimize the user experience while scrolling down the page and performance for site loading at the same time, we have to use client files in correct formats in proper places.

  • PNG files: High quality format with high size

  • JPG/WEBP: Less quality format with less size

  • SVG: High quality vectors with less size (no quality loss upon resizing on page)

Also, we generally use horizontal media files during website design so the resolution of the images should be in a ratio like 1920x1080.

For sections with texts placed on an image, the images should have a focal point on it or a background with dark regions on it to prevent any text contrast issues.

How to folder all site content?

Basis on the sitemap generated on discovery phase, create a main folder where all sub-folders and files will be placed on. Here is you can find a sample file structure for the main content folder:

Let's say you created a folder called "site_content". You will drag and drop all other subfolders inside this folder: homepage, store, contact. The subfolders will be full of necessary documents, images, videos that stacked and named clearly.

Delivering site content to Bizimuhit

You will send your content through WeTransfer. It is a free tool used to transfer files and folders through a secured network.

WeTransfer page showing upload panel that allows users to select the files or folders to be sent. Bizimuhit site content transfers using WeTransfer website.

Email which the content submitted on WeTransfer is: info@bizimuhit.com

  1. Go to WeTransfer website.

  2. Click on Add folder icon.

  3. Select the folder you'd like to upload.

  4. Enter Receiver's name, email and a title.

  5. (Optional) Enter your message.

  6. Select a Date which the file will be expired at.

  7. Click on Transfer button.

If you are shared a different email address for transfferring your files and folders, you should send to that address rather than the default receiver.

Once your project managers received all data to be placed on your site, they will check the files and compare if it meets the given criteria for the project.

We do not accept any files via email since transferring those files run out of our WorkSpace storage instantly.
